Not only does custom and inspection take loner than the near by Pyungtak port, lack of freezer facilities inside the port is making importers of agricultural products avoid using the Incheon port. According to the cargo owners and Incheon District Department of  Maritime and Marine Products, custom clearance is impossible since there is no bonded storage at the Incheon port container yard. Also, the lack of freezer and refrigerator bonded storage facilities are making dealers hard to meet the time limit.

 

Especially in case of imported frozen goods, importers are paying 300 KW of working fee per box and additional 15 KW of storage fee per day for 40 feet container of 2,500 boxes. In addition to that, it takes 5 days to pass the custom and release the products.

 

On the contrary, in Pyungtak port, agricultural products, such as kimchi, frozen peppers, garlic, can pass the custom at the container yard, which is faster and cheaper and thus more
